The Cull’s Shadow fusion rifle is a new Weapon of Sorrow in Destiny 2, with a unique, melee-focused playstyle. To improve its performance, you can unlock four Exotic catalysts across multiple Oblation missions.

Soulfire Succor
The Soulfire Succor Exotic catalyst is at the end of the Oblation: Bloodline mission. After defeating the boss, don’t end the mission. Instead, head outside the boss room where the three braziers are, and climb up the right side to reach the tower on the left side. At the top of the tower, there’s a book that you can interact with.
Grab the book and head back into the boss room. On the far right side, there’s a door with Hive seals, just like when unlocking the Exotic mission. Use a Weapon of Sorrow (which includes the Cull’s Shadow) and break the runes in that order.
This awards the Soulfire Succor catalyst and unlocks the next Exotic mission, Oblation: Soulfed, that you can launch using the door or from the mission node on the destination map.
Soulfire Rancor and Soulfire Zeal
Oblation: Soulfed starts where Bloodline ended and opens a new area to explore. In this mission, lighting up braziers with a Soulfire Charge spawns worms around it that you can throw at Soulfire Crystals. The entire mission revolves around worms and crystals, so use them to open the paths forward and keep going down.
Once you reach the section where you must carry the worm by jumping on sacriphages over a pool with Soulfire, don’t activate the Crystal. Instead, drop down onto the bowls that Hive statues hold under the doorway. Jump through the arch to find a mechanism and activate it.
Continue to do the mission as usual until you drop down to the bottom of the pit. Among all the locked doors, there should be one open and glowing with light. Head inside and grab a book just like in the Bloodline mission.
After defeating the final three bosses, interact with the book that appears in the middle of the arena. Runes will appear on the outside of the arena and on the Cull’s Shadow itself. Shoot the runes in the order shown on the Cull’s Shadow to get the Soulfire Zeal catalyst and unlock the next mission. The Soulfire Rancor drops from the loot chest after defeating the bosses.
Doing this unlocks the last Exotic mission, Oblation: Immolation.
Soulfire Skewer
There are no additional mechanics for you to do in the Oblation: Immolation mission to get the Soulfire Skewer. Explore the tunnels until you reach the Soulfed Bellow Stoker encounter. Capture plates to remove the immunity shield and defeat the Knight to proceed.
The final boss fight against Ir Gohl uses the worm mechanics from the previous mission. Start by clearing the Wizards in all three wings of the arena. After dealing enough damage, the main fight begins. Pick up worms at an active brazier and throw them at the crystals. Hit two crystals to lower the shield.
With every hammer strike that the boss makes, the active brazier explodes and rotates to the next one. The middle of the arena also explodes in Soulfire, and either explosion can one-shot you. You can track the hammer strikes by looking at the middle. When the bubble around the trapped Lightbearer closes, the hammer will strike.
Mind your positioning, defeat the boss, and collect the Soulfire Skewer from the final chest.
