How to get a refund from ice walks in Cardiff and Swansea after they were scrapped on medical advice

Ice walks that were due to be part of the Christmas attractions in Cardiff and Swansea have been scrapped.

The trials that were due to have already opened in the two cities will not go ahead after medical advice surrounding coronavirus.

The events were popular and thousands of tickets had already been bought.

But if you have bought them, the good news is that you WILL get a full refund.

Organisers have said that anyone who has booked and paid for a slot on an ice walk will receive a refund.

Customers do not need to do anything to activate the refund, it will be applied automatically. This could take up to five days to show in accounts.

A message on the Cardiff Castle booking site says the trail has been closed (Cardiff Castle)

Prices had started at £9 for children up to 16 and for students.

Adult tickets are £11 and a family ticket is £35 and that's for two adults and two children, or one adult and three children.

Cardiff and Swansea councils issued a joint statement on Tuesday saying that the decision had been made following public health advice received from the office of Wales' Chief Medical Officer.

The walks were supposed to involved outdoor meandering on skates around a crafted ice trail which would have taken you around Cardiff Castle grounds, and there was to be a 120m ice walk at the Alpine Village in Swansea.

The statement added: "Both local authorities appreciate the disappointment this will create for residents and would like to apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.

"However, the safety of everyone during the pandemic remains our main concern and it’s important we follow the latest scientific evidence."
