How to get a refund for The Script after Newcastle gig is postponed

There was upset late on Friday night when it was revealed that The Script had postponed their Newcastle gig.

The Irish lads were all set to play to a capacity crowd at the Utilita Arena after selling out the venue in 2015 and 2018 but they took to their social media channels to reveal it had been pulled and rescheduled.

The news came after widespread reports that large gatherings in the UK will be banned to try and combat the rapid spread of coronavirus , with confirmed cases now at nearly 800 and hours after Utilita Arena issued their own coronavirus guidance.

A rescheduled date for The Script in Newcastle has already been confirmed as Saturday, July 18 but the new date clashes with both Westlife's huge open air concert in Chester-le-Street and UK Pride weekend in Newcastle , meaning a number of fans are now torn or have already committed to going to one of the other events.

James Arthur's gig at Utilita Arena went ahead as planned on Friday night, leading to a number of disappointed fans asking the arena why The Script's had been postponed.

Responding in the comments of the announcement, they posted: "Each artist make their own decision. We are closely monitoring the situation and following advice from the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)."

Some fans had already arrived in Newcastle from other parts of the country for Saturday night's show and were understandably annoyed at the short notice given but the arena said: "We gave notice at the most immediate opportunity/we shared the news immediately from the band."

How to get a refund

The latest advice from the arena is that refunds for those unable to make the rescheduled show will be available from your point of purchase. Contact your ticketing company direct or the arena if you purchased in person from the box office.
