Lightsabers have arrived in Fortnite following a spectacular live-event that unfortunately many people couldn’t get into due login issues and server congestion.
But hey, the good news is there are now lightsabers in Fortnite! There are also a number of cool Star Wars skins for purchase in the item shop and a free TIE Whisper glider! Oh, and free challenges and rewards!
It’s all in anticipation of the release of Star Wars Episode IX: Rise Of Skywalker this coming weekend.
So how do you actually get a lightsaber in the game? Well, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll find one in any given match, but you find them in special chests that look like this:
Inside you’ll find four different lightsabers to choose from (or you can take them all if you don’t mind losing all your inventory space).
There’s Kylo Ren’s lightsaber:
Rey’s lightsaber:
Luke’s lightsaber:
And fan favorite, Mace Windu’s purple lightsaber:
These lightsabers are cool and very fun to wack other players with. You can also block incoming damage with them, which is a fun twist. Both these things are part of the new Star Wars challenges, so you’ll definitely want to find a lightsaber. Use it to take out Stormtroopers at TIE Fighter crash sites and solve even more challenges that way.
And be sure to pick up one of the Storm Troopers’ blasters. Dealing damage with the infinite-ammo gun is another challenge. Besides, it’s just a very cool, very powerful rifle that doesn’t run out of rounds and doesn’t need to be reloaded. Pretty cool.
