How to fly to New York or Boston next summer for just £263 return

Every so often, Jack Sheldon from Jack’s Flight Club selects a flight deal from the UK for Independent readers that you can’t afford to miss. This week: return flights to New York or Boston next summer for £263 return.

I often hear from parents and teachers about how expensive it can be to travel over the school holidays, and particularly during summer.

This deal shows how patience can pay off. Peak travel fares often sit at a high price for a large part of the year, but here’s proof that you can get a cheap flight if you know when to book. Both of these deals will get you across the pond to New York or Boston next summer for just £263 return.

Be quick, as they won’t be around for long.

How to book

On Google Flights, enter Manchester as your departure airport, and either New York or Boston as your destination. You may want to add Virgin Atlantic to the airline filtering to help you search available dates. Fares may show higher on Google Flights when browsing dates, but will adjust once you’ve selected your flights.

Once you have picked your dates (which will be highlighted in green on the calendar tool), either proceed to book the itinerary directly on Virgin Atlantic’s website, or go to Skyscanner, re-enter your itinerary to see which travel agent is offering the flight at the best price, and book with the agent of your choice.

Depart from

Manchester (MAN)

To

New York (JFK) – £263

Boston (BOS) – £272

When to fly

The lowest fares are available between March and November for both routes, excluding Easter but including peak summer dates in July and August.

When to book

These fares should last for two or three days, although peak summer dates could sell out quicker.

Pro tips

If you fancy a little road trip you can always turn your trip into a multi-city one and return from Boston if you fly to New York, or vice versa.
