How to Fly in EA Skate

You can’t ever have a Skate game without extreme over-the-top action. The newly-released skate. leans into that idea, and the new features and climbing system elevate the overall skateability of everything in the game. You may have already seen some clips of people launching themselves off rooftops and gliding through the air, Just Cause style.

This is exactly what I wanted to do as soon as I launched the game, but the tutorial doesn’t walk you through this right away. Fortunately, I was able to figure it out relatively quickly. Here’s how you can fly and glide in skate

How Flying Works In EA Skate

While you can basically jump off of any height and start gliding through the air, it works best if you pick a relatively high spot. Skyscrapers, cranes, and a large highway overpasses are the most obvious launch points around San Vansterdam.

Once you’ve picked the right spot, you can either jump straight off or skate off the edge. If you’re going to skate off the edge, make sure you get rid of your skateboard as soon as you launch by pressing Y (Xbox) or Triangle (PlayStation). As soon as you jump off without your skateboard, hold down the right shoulder button and A on Xbox or X on PlayStation. Make sure you hold down both buttons at the same time and continue holding them to glide.

While gliding, you can use the analog stick to control your pitch. Diving downwards will increase your speed, while pulling the stick upwards will help you coast for longer distances.

Launch Glitches

Skate 3 was notorious for all of its hilarious glitches, and it looks like this new game isn’t going to be anything different. Since players are just getting their first hands on the game, new glitches are still being discovered rapidly. Here are a few fun launch glitches I was able to uncover. Please keep in mind that these can be hard to replicate, because they are glitches after all.

  • Rolling Jump Glitch: Hold down the trigger to roll, immediately press the jump button while rolling, and release R2 at the same time as you press the jump button. You’ll end up going a couple of feet in the air, then you can hold down the right shoulder button and X on PlayStation or Y on Xbox to glide.
  • Ledge Drop Launch Glitch: Drop in from a ledge, and click in both sticks and press both the bumper/shoulder buttons at the same time to catapult into the air. This one is particularly hard because you have to press all four buttons very quickly.

These are just two of the glitches that I was able to replicate while playing the game myself. You can find a lot more if you go through online forums discussing the game. I tried some of the glitches in those forums, but they’ve either been patched or just don’t work anymore. Your mileage may vary.
