How to fix your Amazon TV device as fans face issues with Premier League coverage on Prime Video

Amazon Prime is hosting Premier League football for the first time this week – but it hasn’t been without its problems.

All 10 midweek games in the top flight are available live on the Prime Video streaming service as part of a huge £90million deal.

As well as this week’s fixtures, Amazon will also be showing all the games over the busy Christmas period, with nine games live on Boxing Day, and one more on December 27.

The service’s coverage began on Tuesday with Manchester City’s 4-1 win away at Burnley, as well as Crystal Palace’s 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Six more games are being shown on Wednesday, with two more to come on Thursday.

But fans haven’t been entirely happy with Amazon’s coverage so far.

Supporters have complained about problems trying to connect to the service and the video quality, with many reporting of streams crashing and freezing.

How to fix your Amazon TV device

A minimum download speed of 1Mbps for SD and 5Mbps for HD is recommended by Amazon Prime.

Without this, your online feed will face issues such as crashing and freezing.

If your device doesn’t meet these minimum requirements, you may find your Amazon Prime Premier League stream doesn’t working.

Others found their device, which they believed to be compatible with Amazon Prime, couldn’t support the feed.

When loading up the app on a smart TV, the following message appeared for some: "Your device does not support streaming of live sports on Prime Video.

“Get set with a Fire TV stick, just £19.99 with code FTVSPORT. For offer details go to amazon.co.uk/ftvsport."

A statement from Amazon read:

"Starting [July 18, 2019], Amazon will no longer support Prime Video on Sony Bravia BDP and TV, Panasonic Viera BDP and TV, and Vizio MTK Yahoo TV. Additionally, support is being deprecated on Nintendo WiiU as well.

"Below are the DTIDs for devices that will no longer be supported as part of this deprecation:

"Prime Video app will be completely deprecated on these devices by [September 30. 2019].

"As Prime Video continually seeks to improve their service, this occasionally means Amazon can no longer support certain devices or features. You can continue to stream Prime Video and access their video library on other supported devices, including most Sony, Panasonic, and VIZIO devices, smart TVs, gaming consoles, streaming media players and mobile or tablet devices.
