How to fix Rainbow Six Siege voice chat not working

Voice chat is one of the best ways to communicate in Rainbow Six Siege, so it's important to avoid potential issues.

The voice chat works pretty effortlessly for the most part, and you can choose between push-to-talk or always-open communication. There's also an option to keep yourself muted while listening to the chatter of your teammates. The problem arises when the voice chat stops working, even when you have kept your mic open.

Let's examine some feasible steps to solve problems that may arise while you enjoy the Siege X update.

Rainbow Six Siege voice chat not working fixes

For starters, check your in-game settings and keep in-game chat open. It happened to me in the past when I accidentally disabled the in-game voice chat. Assuming you haven't done the same thing, here's what you can do to solve any issues that might occur.

  • Check the voice chat record threshold: If you set the threshold too high, chances are that your teammates won't hear what you're saying. I prefer keeping this at 20, but you should reduce it further if the quality of your mic isn't good/there's too much background noise.

  • Create an exception: For some unknown reason, the game's executable can be falsely flagged by your anti-virus or even the Windows Firewall. To solve this problem, simply create an exception that will allow the game and the voice chat to function normally. This problem doesn't happen too frequently now, as Ubisoft has fixed it in past updates with in-game patches.
  • Check the Privacy settings: This is applicable only to those of you playing on PC. There's a separate privacy setting related to using text and voice chat on your Ubisoft account. You can find it from the Privacy Center—Social Preferences. Set it to everyone, and save your changes. Restart the game, and you should be able to use voice chat as intended.

That should solve any potential issue in the game related to using voice chat to communicate with friends and teammates inside Rainbow Six Siege.
