NOTE: This is a developing issue. We will update this article if other solutions become apparent.
The closed beta for EA FC 26 has finally begun as of this morning, meaning that many of the series’ most dedicated players will be given early access to a work-in-progress build of the game until the beta period closes on August 26. However, some players have complained that their beta copies of the game are not working.
For instance, several users over on the EA Forums have complained of getting a code for the EA FC 26 closed beta and being able to play it for only a few minutes before unceremoniously being dumped from the game with no way of regaining access. This is obviously incredibly frustrating for players who are looking to get an early feel for EA FC 26 (getting closed beta codes is a completely arbitrary process).
So, is there a fix for this issue? Here’s what we have found.
Check The Time For When The EA FC 26 Closed Beta Begins
From the looks of it, there seems to have been some sort of miscommunication on EA’s end on when the beta was supposed to start. In my email for the closed beta, I was told that it would start on August 6 at 10:00 AM PDT, which is 1 PM EST. Therefore, it appears that players having access to actual gameplay upon installing the EA FC 26 closed beta on their platforms was actually some sort of unintended glitch, which was later rectified by EA.
This seems to be accepted in the aforementioned EA Forums thread, with many players reporting that the actual closed beta for EA FC 26 wasn’t due to start until later. By now, everyone should have access to the closed beta.
Reinstall The Closed Beta If Issues Persist
Because games are pretty much executable applications these days, things can go wrong on occasion and require you to reset everything to get them working properly. If you are sure that you’ve arrived at the right time for the EA FC 26 closed beta and still don’t have access to the game, try uninstalling the application and reinstalling it.
I know — uninstalling and reinstalling a 60 GB game is a real pain and not what anyone wants to hear. But if issues persist, it may be your only course of action (outside of ensuring that all applications are shut down before doing a hard reset of your platform). If, after doing this step, you are still having issues, reach out to EA’s technical support for further help.
And Remember, No Screenshots Or Footage
If you have access to the EA FC 26 closed beta, we hope you have fun! However, it’s important you know this before you get a bit overzealous and start sharing your first impressions with the world.
A closed beta means that it is a period where EA is offering privileged access to a select number of players to give the game an early try and deliver feedback. Think of it kind of like a company having free QA testing on a large scale. Because the game is still a work in progress, taking any kind of screenshots or footage while playing the closed beta for EA FC 26 is completely prohibited by EA.
If you are caught taking screenshots or footage and posting them online or to chatty friends, you’ll be booted off the closed beta upon EA finding out. So, if you posted anything visual pertaining to the EA FC 26 closed beta and posted it online, it will undoubtedly have a watermark on it. And if your beta code all of a sudden stops working, you can rest assured they found out.
