How to find your Urban Dictionary name for Instagram and Twitter

A new trend has taken over Instagram as users search for their names on Urban Dictionary.

Urban Dictionary is a crowdsourced glossary for slang words and phrases.

However, the definitions are far from what you'd find in the Oxford English Dictionary.

Instead, you'll likely find a comedic, sometimes offensive, description of words.

The Urban Dictionary name trend has taken over Instagram and Twitter (Twitter/Urban Dictionary)

Definitions can be submitted by members of the public, before being edited by a team of volunteers.

But on Instagram and Twitter, a recent trend has come to light.

Users are looking up their own names in Urban Dictionary and posting their results.

For example, user @adela3012 reported her name means 'very intelligent, strong and noble'.

Another user @GoodKingMort, whose name is Matthew, tweeted to say his name meant 'a gift from God."

However, some definitions aren't the most flattering.

William is described as 'a good boy that loves his mum and plays way too many video games.'

Whilst Ryan 'can either be your best friend or your enemy'.

How to find your Urban Dictionary name

Visit the Urban Dictionary website and type your name in the search bar at the top of the page.

Choose an option from the dropdown list and pick a definition.

Take a screenshot of the results and post them on Instagram or Twitter.
