How to Find Your Epic ID In Rocket League

If you’re trying to grind through seasons of Rocket League with friends on other platforms, or maybe trying to link your account for Fortnite rewards, you might wonder where to find your Epic ID. Some players tend to confuse their Display Name (what friends see) with their Epic Account ID, but they’re both different.

To party up with friends from other platforms, or make use of cross-play, you only need your Display Name. However, if you’re dealing with customer support or linking console accounts, you’ll need the actual 32-character Epic Account ID.

So, let’s cut to the chase and dive into the quickest methods to find both your Epic Display Name and Epic Account ID.

Finding Your Epic Display Name (To Add Friends)

This is the name you see in the lobby, and if you’re trying to team up with someone on a different platform, this is all you need.

  • Open Rocket League on your PC/Console.
  • On the Main Menu, check the bottom right corner for the Friends List (or just hit the hotkey, usually R2/RT).
  • You will find your Epic Display Name right at the very top of the side panel. This is the username you set for your account.

However, if you’re playing on a console (PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch, etc) and haven’t created an Epic Games account yet, you might have a “nameless” account. To customize your name, you’ll eventually need to upgrade it to a full account through the Epic Games website.

Finding Your Epic Account ID (For Support & Linking)

To find your Epic Account ID (a long string of letters and numbers), you have to open the Epic Games website. Unlike Fortnite, Rocket League does not display this unique account ID inside the game’s settings menu.

This is the most reliable method and works for all platforms (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch):

  • Access the Epic Games website via your phone or PC.
  • Click the Sign In button at the top right corner.
  • If you’re a console player, choose the icon for your platform (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo) and simply log in using your console credentials.
  • Once you’ve logged in, hover over your User Icon (top-right) and click on “Account”.
  • Your Account information, along with your Epic Account ID, can be found at the top. It’s a unique, immutable 32-character ID.
  • Click the copy icon next to it to copy it to your clipboard.

When Is The Epic ID Required?

Knowing the difference saves you a headache down the long road. Use your Display Name when you’re looking to utilize cross-play or add friends. On the other hand, your Epic Account ID should only be needed if you are recovering a lost account or in the middle of a support ticket.

Most of the time, the in-game friends list and your Display Name are all you’ll need. But if you ever need to dig into technical stuff, remember where to find your Epic Account ID. Keep that browser log-in handy, and you’re all set.

After you’ve figured out the Epic ID, dive into the best settings for Rocket League next.
