The Soothe Bell is arguably one of the most important things to find in Pokémon Legends Z-A, and more so if you're aiming to raise the Friendship Level of your Pokémon quickly.
In Legends ZA, raising the Friendship Level for some Pokémon is key if you want to evolve it. While having the Soothe Bell isn't compulsory and you can complete a playthrough without it, having the item makes the whole process quicker.

How to get the Soothe Bell in Pokémon Legends Z-A
The Soothe Bell is part of the side quest no. 36. Titled Some Friendly Competition, you'll have to complete the quest to earn the item. To obtain Soothe Bell, you'll have to reach the Cafe Rouleau in the southwestern part of the map.
Take the main path that leads to the southwest part of the map. Cafe Rouleau will fall to your right in the game. You'll find the lady in the location (as in the cover image). You'll need to defeat her to complete Some Friendly Competition.
How does the Soothe Bell work in Pokémon Legends Z-A?
The Soothe Bell enhances the rate at which the Friendship Level of your Pokémon goes up. You can do so by assigning the item to a Pokémon of your choice. This will raise its Friendship Level quickly whenever you perform any activity.
Do note that the Soothe Bell doesn't automatically raise the Friendship Level. It simply enhances the rate at which Friendship Level rises for Pokémon. Once you have raised the level of one Pokémon, you can switch and give it to the next one to take its benefits.
