Deltarune teems with mysterious entities, but none are more enigmatic than FRIEND. This sinister pink-and-yellow-eyed feline has been watching Kris and company from the shadows since Chapter 2, but he was noticeably absent from Deltarune Chapter 5. Or at least he was until the most recent patch dropped.
Post-patch, you can not only have your first true interaction with FRIEND, but also trigger hidden dialogue with Pink that offers a faint glimpse of what the grinning terror might have planned for Kris. Here’s how to do both.

Where to find FRIEND in Deltarune Chapter 5
Before you can trigger the encounter with FRIEND, you’ll need to nab Deltarune Chapter 5‘s hidden Egg. Once you have it in your inventory, the encounter will become available.
The FRIEND encounter hides just past the “Way Home” area connecting the Garden and Cliff segments of the Flower Kingdom Dark World. When you reach and activate the first Platswamp statue in the Cliffs, avoid going up. Instead, head right onto the next screen.
You’ll start falling immediately, so you’ll want to hit the ACT command as soon as possible. If you do it fast enough, you’ll notice a faint, blood-red diamond symbol in the far-right corner. If you try to interact with the symbol, FRIEND will immediately attack you, reducing your health by a random amount ranging from 1 to the hundreds, so make sure you’re fully healed before you trigger the encounter.
You’ll fall back to the start of the platforming section from here. If you head back to the right screen again, the diamond symbol will be gone.
How to get Pink’s secret dialogue in Deltarune Chapter 5
Once you’ve triggered the encounter with FRIEND, you can then go to the Shop on the Cliffs to unlock a secret dialogue with Pink. You’ll need to defeat Deltarune Chapter 5‘s secret boss to enable this dialogue, so follow our walkthroughs on how to collect enough Pink Coins to unlock and defeat the Flower Kingdom’s Shadow Crystal holder if you’re having trouble.
Once you’ve defeated the secret boss, just walk into Pink’s shop to trigger the dialogue. Pink will immediately notice a bite mark FRIEND left on Kris’ hand, and silence will immediately replace the cheery background music.
In classic Deltarune fashion, Pink’s dialogue reveals very little concrete information about FRIEND, but what she does say paints a very ominous picture of our shadowy admirer. We’ll just have to wait until Deltarune Chapter 6 drops to find out more.
