How to find the Scoutmaster in PEAK

If you’ve been struggling to get the infamous Scoutmaster to spawn during your PEAK run, we’re here to help you solve the riddle and prepare for the challenge that comes with it.

The indie hit from Aggro Crab and Landfall isn’t just your average climbing game—it’s a full-blown survival experience. As you push toward the elusive “peak” and explore the island region-wise, you’ll encounter a mix of creepy crawlies and hazards, designed to derail your escape from the island. Most enemies are squishy and manageable, but the Scoutmaster is a whole different beast—one you’ll probably want to avoid unless you’re actively courting death.

The good news? If you encounter the Scoutmaster in PEAK, some solid rewards are waiting for you. So, here’s how to get this tall and scary creature to spawn and our guide to tackle it.

How to locate the Scoutmaster in PEAK

The Scoutmaster doesn’t spawn in PEAK unless you force it to, using these ways:

  1. By venturing far away from your squad mates
  2. By using the Scoutmaster’s Bugle

For the first method, you need to break the most basic rule by leaving your allies behind by a significant distance. You need to be located far above the second-highest player in your group, so it’d be best to ask your teammates to wait at the region’s bottom for this method to work seamlessly.

The Scoutmaster may spawn anywhere and at any time during your climb. It’s easier to tackle the beast if you’re on level ground, though. Try to reach the Campfire (Temple) of a region as quickly as possible to avoid a Scoutmaster encounter in the middle of a cliff. If you don’t see it waiting for you at the campsite, wait for a while for it to spawn.

If you’re the only one alive in your team and have managed to reach the campsite, wait for some time. Don’t recall your dead teammates at the Altar, or the Scoutmaster won’t appear.

If you find the rare Scoutmaster’s Bugle, however, you can summon the enemy at your convenience by blowing into it. This is also the only way to spawn the Scoutmaster in PEAK’s solo/offline mode. Playing the Bugle also boosts your stamina bar, but you’ll need it to escape from the Scoutmaster anyway.

All Scoutmaster rewards and achievements in PEAK

Now that you know how to meet the Scoutmaster in PEAK, it’s time to know the benefits you can claim for committing to the dangerous challenge.

What I recommend next may sound like a suicide plan, but let the Scoutmaster catch up to you, pick you up, and throw you down at least once. This will bag you the Mentorship Badge achievement, which is one of the rarest in the game (and for good reason). You’ll also earn the Inverted Eyes cosmetic style for your troubles.

Can you kill the Scoutmaster in PEAK?

After it spawns, the Scoutmaster latches onto a player and chases them relentlessly until they manage to lose its interest. It’s justified to want to shoot it down, whether to avoid harm or simply to kill the annoying creature and end its relentless chase for good.

Unfortunately, as of PEAK’s latest version, there’s no way to kill or defeat the Scoutmaster in combat. Once it appears, it’ll keep chasing you for several minutes until it loses sight of you. If it catches you, it will keep flinging you until you escape, only to start chasing you again. It climbs faster than you as well, so there’s no escape that way either.

To escape the Scoutmaster in PEAK, keep running, as far and as fast as your stamina bar can take you. I’ve been able to keep away from it by running in circles on level ground, coupled with unpredictable running across the area. Ultimately, however, it caught up and took me down, but I had already secured the achievement and cosmetic, so no complaints there.
