How to find restaurants near you still offering generous discounts

A string of chains and independent restaurants have said that they will keep offering 50% off food after the Eat Out to Help Out scheme ends.

The Government-backed discount offered anyone dining in on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August 50% off food and non-alcoholic drinks - up to £10 a person.

It proved wildly popular, with 100 million discounted meals served across 84,700 restaurants.

With bookings up 216% on the final day, a lot of restaurants have decided to keep going and fund it themselves, while others have brought in offers of their own to replace the ones lost.

Nationwide chains including TGI Fridays, Pizza Hut, Wetherspoons and more have launched discounts, while Deliveroo decided to take money off take aways too.

But independents and smaller chains offering diners money off aren't as well publicised.

So we decided to help.

To let you find the spots offering reduced meals throughout this month, we teamed up with our partner website  InYourArea  to create a helpful widget.

All you have to do is enter your postcode below (click 'View On InYourArea' if results don't display automatically) to find details of participating businesses on your doorstep.

If you can't see the search box on your device, click 'view interactive content'.

The original discount only applied to food and soft drinks, with alcohol at full price and service charges not included either.

But with those terms gone, restaurants are allowed to offer any sort of deal they like - with many tempting people in with a free cocktail or glass of Prosecco as well as cheaper meals.

Booking is advised, and diners should check with their chosen restaurant for details of its opening days and times before making a visit.
