How to emote in PEAK

Playing PEAK with friends can lead to some hilarious moments. Watching your friends climb a mountain only to accidentally walk into a poisonous plant, tumble off a ledge, or slip on a jellyfish makes for some fun memories. Combine this with emotes, and you've got yourself a great time.

How to emote in PEAK

You can emote in PEAK by holding down 'R' on your keyboard, mousing over one of the game's emote options, and releasing the R key when you've made your choice. Each one will activate temporarily, letting you use them repeatedly if you want to mess with your friends or experiment with your options.

At the time of writing, PEAK has eight emotes to pick from:

  • Salute
  • Thumbs up
  • Think
  • No-no
  • Play dead
  • Shrug
  • Crossed arms
  • Dance

While Aggro Crab and Landfall may introduce more in the future, these are what we have to work with for now. If you don't want to wait for more, you can also search around for PEAK mods through Thunderstore, Nexus Mods, and other trusted sources.

Although you won't be able to see yourself emote, your friends will see, provided they're looking at you. Similarly, if another player in your lobby emotes, you'll be able to see what they look like.

How to ping in PEAK

If you want to communicate an important item, landmark, or location to your team without using emotes or voice comms, you can ping by pressing your middle mouse wheel while hovering over the area. Doing this lets your character point at a spot to signal something worth looking at.

The main use of this feature is to point out luggage bags, mushrooms, ropes, and other useful spots that help you and your team reach the top of the mountain more easily. Similarly, if you have someone using binoculars, they'll have an easier time finding these special items and communicating where to go through pings. Alternatively, you can ping a potential ledge to climb to if you notice a linear path upward that others might have missed.

If strategy isn't your thing, you can also use it to ping a teammate who recently passed out after falling off a ledge or getting poisoned. My friend group and I have had a fair share of this, and it always makes for some funny moments. You can also spam pings to bug someone if you're feeling mischievous, even if it's at the cost of distracting them.
