How to eat a pineapple: it looks like we've been doing it all wrong

Pineapples are tricky to eat.

Using a sharp knife to slice the pineapple into chunks has always been our go-to method, but this could all change thanks to a new viral video on Twitter.

The video, which has been shared more than 140,000 times and received over 13.1 million views, shows user @dillonroberts22, gripping one of the pineapple’s bumps on its skin and peeling it inwards to peel out a chunk.

Warning: have the sound on mute as you watch this unless you want to hear some rather unpleasant chewing sounds.

The method quickly made the rounds on Twitter, with users in shock that they never knew it was possible to eat a pineapple like this – and also aghast that a ‘human can chew this loud in 2019’. Sorry, Dillon.

One user explained: “You can do this because pineapples are actually berries. As the fruit grows the individual berries coalesce together. Each 'eye' is a single individual berry. They may seem fused together, but if you start from the top, you can pluck each eye one by one.”

Consider our minds blown.
