Performing tricks in Skate 4 is far more difficult than it seems. Depending on the trick you’re trying to do, you have to nail down precise movements with your joystick and memorize directions to pull off a single trick. When you start to add more and more tricks into the mix, your brain can get jumbled and forget how to perform even the simplest tricks.
One trick that has been giving some players trouble since the launch of Skate 4 is the Laserflip. This is a classic skateboarding trick that doesn’t seem overly hard to do, at least on paper. When players attempt to do the Laserflip in-game, however, it’s an entirely different story. So, if you’ve been struggling to get the Laserflip down in Skate 4, check out the guide to see exactly how it’s done.
Performing The Laserflip In Skate 4
The Laserflip falls into the “Ollie” category of tricks in Skate 4, meaning you only have to move your right joystick to perform the trick. There are no button presses required, and while that might sound easier, tricks involving your joystick are notoriously more difficult to get down consistently.
Compared to other Ollie tricks in Skate 4, the Laserflip features nearly the same joystick combination as the 360 Spin. In fact, for the Park Practicum challenge, one of the tasks requires you to pull off a 360 Spin or a Laserflip, going to show just how similar they are.

However, if you want to do a Laserflip instead of a 360 Spin, then follow these joystick movements:
- First, you want to gather some momentum on your board and skate on a relatively flat surface with few obstacles around you. Then, use this combination to do the Laserflip:
- RS flick Right, Down, and Up and to the Left
- Flick your right joystick east, then south, and then northwest on your trick meter at the bottom of the screen
Like any flip trick in Skate 4, your joystick motions will be the key to pulling off the Laserflip with any sort of consistency. Make sure to pay close attention to your trick meter at the bottom of your screen while you’re learning how to do the Laserflip and any other flip trick in the game. You want to get as close to the directions we outlined above as possible. If you even lean too far in one of the wrong directions en route to completing the trick, you’ll perform another trick entirely, or your skater will just continue to skate around.
As long as you’re diligent in your joystick movements and you really nail down the mechanics of the Laserflip, you should be able to start chaining them off one after the other. Learning how to do the Laserflip is definitely important in Skate 4, as there are a few challenges that require the trick.
