A social media mum has gained a lot of attention for her genius sensory play hack.
TikTok user @elleannachristine created a faux sand pit for her infant daughter to play in using a popular brand of cereal.
Half-filling a NutriBullet food blender cup, the video shows Elle blitzing a portion of Cheerios into a powdered substance that closely resembles sand.
She then repeats the process several times working her way through the box until she has enough 'sand' to fill a large kitchen tray.
The mum then adds a selection of sand moulds for her child to play with before placing her daughter on a towel to begin her sensory playtime.
The clip was posted on TikTok - a video social networking site - two days ago and has already received 338k likes.
More than 3,400 TikTok users posted comments underneath the video - but feedback was varied.
One user praised the mum writing: "No one said you were allowed to be this smart," followed by a series of love heart emojis.
Another posted: "Well if this isn't the most genius thing I've ever seen..ti [sic] bad my youngest is 6 now lol."
But others weren't convinced.
"Isn’t she going to be trained that all sand will taste like Cheerio dust now?" was posted by a user questioning the hack.
And others agreed, commenting: "All fun in games till you take her to a real beach and then- (but this is a great idea)."
Chiming in to settle the debate, one woman suggested that there's nothing to worry about, by posting: "PEOPLE... Kids try to eat everything.
"We all drink water but understand to not drink toilet water, public pool water, salt water, etc.
"They learn."
