The Root of the Matter quest is structured similarly to other quests, where you go on a mission to track something down. You can begin the quest after gaining it from Celeste. This guide will help you complete the mission without any issues.

ARC Raiders The Root of the Matter quest walkthrough
The Root of the Matter quest can be broken down into the following parts.
- Go to the Research Building
- Search for the seed vault in the "room with a great view"
- Deliver the Experimental Seed Sample to Celeste
The first task is to head to the Research Building, located in the north of Buried City. It's by the Space Travel building, next to the Parking Garage and near Marano Park. I have marked its location to avoid any confusion. The second task of the quest is the best hint for where you need to be. It hints at a room with a great view, and you can find the location in the western part of the building. The room has a massive glass display that gives you a view of Marano Park.
You'll find a batch of Experimental Seed Sample in a canister, which has to be retrieved and handed over to Celeste. The location marked on the map is where you want to approach the building from. Get in through the glass window, and the room you're searching for will be to your left (the first one). It's on the same floor, and you can also avoid the ARC enemies in this building. You can take any route you want, but I found this to be the optimal one in terms of safety.
Interact with the canister, and then extract safely to take back the sample to Speranza. Speak with Celeste to deliver the item and complete the quest.
