Trying out different playbooks also helps you find the one you like the most and tailor it to your preference. In this guide, I’ll explain how to change playbooks in Madden 26, so you don’t become a one-trick pony.
How To Change Playbooks In Franchise Mode
In Franchise mode, you manage an NFL team as the head coach. Here, the goal is to dominate the field through player management and game-day decision-making. To put these words into action, the playbooks serve as a catalyst.
By switching between different offensive and defensive playbooks, you can try out various strategies. Here’s how to switch between the playbooks:
- Head to the Home section of Franchise mode
- Go to Manage Team > Team Schemes
In this window, you’ll have the following options: Offensive Scheme, Defensive Scheme, Offensive Playbook, and Defensive Playbook. From here, you can select any playbook and proceed. However, if you’re looking for custom playbooks, they will not appear here. To bring them into play, follow these steps:
- Head to the Home section of Franchise mode
- Go to Play Season Game > Play Full Game
Now, a screen will appear for you to choose a team. Upon selecting, a sub-window will open, allowing you to adjust a few settings before the game begins. From these settings, choose Advanced Settings, and from here, you can navigate between offensive and defensive playbooks, with custom ones also included.
How To Change Playbooks In Ultimate Team Mode
The goal of Ultimate Team is to customise, collect, and play competitively to build the best roster. Similar to Franchise, choosing the right playbook here will increase your chances of winning. To switch between playbooks in UT, do this:
- Head to the My Team section of Ultimate Team mode
- Go to Lineup
- Here, head to the Playbooks & Visuals section
From here, select an offensive/defensive playbook and customize it according to your preferences.
How To Change The Default Playbooks
While the steps above cover both Ultimate Team and Franchise, here’s how to change the default playbooks for exhibition matches:
- Head to the Main Screen of Madden 26
- Go to Settings
- Head to Game Options
- Here, you’ll have a Playbooks section that is set to Team Specific by default
- Change it from Team Specific, and select the playbook you want to use
Once you change the default playbooks, they will be applicable for both exhibition matches and friendlies.
