How to Change MyCareer Difficulty in NBA 2K26

MyCareer in NBA 2K26 isn’t just a regular mode; it demands patience, skills, and commitment for an overall successful experience. Here, you start from scratch with a custom player and carry them from rookie to superstar through an intense basketball journey.

While the core challenges remain consistent, the intensity of hardships felt during your career depends on the chosen level of difficulty. So, whether you want to turn up the heat or just want to have a forgiving experience, here’s how to change the level of difficulty in NBA 2K26 MyCareer.

Steps For Changing Difficulty In MyCareer

There’s nothing mindbending about changing difficulty in NBA 2K26 MyCareer, as you can do it in a couple of steps. Here’s how to do it:

  • On the main menu, head to Options/Quit
  • Select Settings from the submenu
  • Select Game Difficulty
  • Choose your desired difficulty
  • Confirm and save

The game will give you six different choices to choose from:

  • Rookie
  • Semi-Pro
  • Pro
  • All Star
  • Superstar
  • Hall of Fame

From these, Rookie is the easiest and ideal for the newbies or those who want to reach the end of the game as soon as possible. Similarly, anything in between, up to the Hall of Fame, works as a staircase for your skill level; the more you feel confident, the more you crank up the difficulty. Ultimately, we have the Hall of Fame, which is only for the unstoppable.

Things To Consider Regarding Difficulty

First of all, if you are experiencing an absence of the difficulty option from the settings, simply join an NBA team, and you will be good to go. However, there are a couple of things more to consider when it comes to changing your MyCareer difficulty.

The most important factor is VC. The amount of VC earned from each game depends on the level of difficulty. If you’re grinding hard, you’ll get some extra coins, and if you are sitting in your comfort zone, well, you compromise on the rewards. Here’s what every difficulty brings in terms of VC.

  • Rookie = 30% VC & 75% MyPOINTS Modifier
  • Semi-Pro = 60% VC & 85% MyPOINTS Modifier
  • Pro = 100% VC & 100% MyPOINTS Modifier
  • All-Star = 120% VC & 120% MyPOINTS Modifier
  • Superstar = 140% VC & 135% MyPOINTS Modifier
  • Hall of Fame = 160% VC & 150% MyPOINTS Modifier

With these in mind, I recommend choosing a higher difficulty, especially if you want to earn VC quickly in NBA 2K26 MyCareer. Remember, you’ll be up against AI that is still way easier to deal with than a hotshot you compete online. I’d recommend going with Pro, as it not only doubles the VC but also provides a balance.

This is everything you need to know about swapping difficulty levels in NBA 2K26 MyCareer. Remember that this is only applicable to MyCareer, and the process for other modes will vary.
