How to capture unique evidence in Phasmophobia

Gathering evidence is a crucial gameplay aspect for correctly identifying the ghost in Phasmophobia. Some tasks specifically call for unique evidence, though, which is a special version of this feature.

Unique media is also a lot more rewarding than regular evidence, so if you're seeking lots of XP and cash, gathering it is a good way to gather both. It can be decently tricky to obtain, so here's how to capture unique evidence in Phasmophobia.

What is unique media in Phasmophobia?

Unique media is the first instance of any capturable moment, event, object, evidence, or other such assets in Phasmophobia. It's tough to define, since it includes just about everything, but also has some specific requirements depending on the type of media you're trying to capture.

The best way to understand this feature is to look for moments that highlight ghost activity or unusual features. Anything involving the ghost can be captured as unique media, so focusing on finding and interacting with them is by far the easiest way to capture unique evidence. Certain special items not directly related to the ghost, like Cursed Possessions and Bones, also count, so your goal is to look for anything that feels noteworthy and out of the ordinary.

How to get unique media evidence in Phasmophobia

You can capture unique media evidence using the Sound Recorder, Video Camera, or Photo Camera to catch various types of evidence for the first time. The crucial part of this system is that only the first instance of evidence captured counts as unique. All copies of the same evidence are labeled as duplicates instead of unique and are less rewarding.

You have to use the right type of equipment to capture various types of unique evidence. The Sound Recorder can be used to catch all ghostly audio sounds you hear, the Video Camera is for any live, moving evidence you spot, and the Photo Camera is for static items or quick appearances. Certain types of evidence, like manifestations of the ghost, can be captured using more than one method, so play around with all three to see what you manage to find.
