How to build a Gravship in RimWorld Odyssey

The Gravship is one of the latest additions to RimWorld’s Odyssey DLC, and it allows you to create a mobile base of operations to scavenge for rare materials all around the world, but getting these resources could be a tricky affair.

How to get a Gravship in RimWorld Odyssey

The easiest way to get a Gravship in RimWorld Odyssey is by starting the Gravship scenario in the Odyssey menu. Once you start it, you start with the Gravship and a few resources to expand your Gravship. However, the mechhive and its terrifying murder machines are scanning for your location, and they’ll attack your Gravship in a few days. This puts you on a clock to gather all the nearby resources like gravlite panels and flee to another spot to buy some time.

This nomadic lifestyle will always have you changing your location until you’re strong enough to take on enemies or want to fight with them for their resources. It is exciting but can also feel overwhelming based on your difficulty, as they’re constantly on your tail. You don’t necessarily need to start a Gravship scenario to get the space vehicle because you can edit a scenario and choose the Gravship as your arrival method to get it instantly.

If you’re into the classic RimWorld and want to do things at your own pace to build the perfect Gravship for your travels, you can continue through the active quests until you get the Mechanoid Signal quest. It will give you the chance to retrieve the Gravship Engine from a crash site on the map. Now, you need to train your crewmates to enhance their shooting skills by hunting animals near you and assembling a squad to embark on a mission to get those crucial resources and the engine to start making your Gravship.

Once the engine and resources like Gravlite Panels are in your base, go to your Research menu and research the Basic Gravitech to unlock the fundamental components for your Gravship. Once the research is complete, build a small Chamfuel Tank, small Thrusters, and the Pilot Console by going to the Odyssey menu under the Architect tab. All these require steel, and some components are needed to make them.

The small Chamfuel Tank uses chemfuel material, the battery for your spaceship. You ideally need two small Thrusters to help you gain height to fly to different areas of the world, and lastly, the Pilot Console is where you’d assign your captain to fly the ship and each different part of the world to make the best ship in the universe.

You can also build the Gravship Hull, which prevents oxygen leaks inside the ship. The Grav Anchor prevents your local map from being destroyed during launch. If you want to increase the size of your Gravship, you need to place a Grav Field Extender, which is fantastic at increasing the space where you can place your structures.

You can upgrade these main components to travel further and add more structures to your Gravship by researching the Standard Gravtech by spending 1,200 research points.
