How to break the cave open and explore the secrets in The Sims 4

To finish off the Nature's Calling event in The Sims 4, you need to venture into a special secret area in The Sims 4. To gain access to this location, you need to complete the break the cave open and explore the secrets quest.

This mission is by far one of the toughest ones you'll come across throughout this limited event, especially if you're not familiar with the secret world you're traveling to. If this quest has you stumped, here's how to break the cave open and explore the secrets in The Sims 4.

To break the cave open and explore the secrets, you need to reach level 10 of the Handiness skill, locate the Forgotten Grotto cave entrance at Desert Bloom Park, and choose the right path to find the hidden area. Each step in this process is fairly complicated, but all parts must be done if you want to finish this task during the week four Nature's Calling event quests. Here's a breakdown of how to tackle each goal.

  • Reach level 10 Handiness skill – Have your Sim reach level 10 in this skill by regularly crafting items on the woodworking table or repairing broken furniture. You can also cheat this skill to level 10 by entering "testingcheats on" followed by "stats.set_skill_level Major_Handiness 10."
  • Locate the cave entrance – You previously visited this location when tackling week three event quests as one of them asked you to investigate the cave. If you forgot where to find it, visit the Desert Bloom Park lot in the middle of the Oasis Springs world. Once you're there, head to the very northern end of the lot and look for a small cave entrance in the rocky wall on a cliff near a picnic table, a grill, a bench, and a trash can.
  • Enter the Forgotten Grotto – Click on the cave entrance to start exploring. Before you can access the secret world, you need to choose the right path.

As your Sim explores the cave, they'll be met with three choices that determine whether or not they make it to the Forgotten Grotto. Choosing the right answers is crucial if you want to finish this task.

If you pick the wrong ones, your Sim will exit the cave, and you'll have to try again. Here are all of the prompts you'll encounter while exploring and the right answer to choose for each one.

Prompt Options Correct answer
"[Sim name], ever the intrepid explorer, sets out to spelunk the cave. There are two pathways. The narrower of the two is a bit stalac-tight, but [Sim name] might fit if they squeeze." Take narrow path.
Take wide path.
Take wide path.
"No need to try something dangerous! [Sim name] creeps down the main branch, and spies through the dim remaining light a switchback headed gradually up, and a rickety ladder headed down." Take switchback.
Climb ladder.
Climb ladder.
"[Sim name] carefully plunges into a black abyss, groping their way along splintery rungs. After a long descent, a faint azure light starts to fill the expanse below. She can step off into a dim mossy precipice or continue into the blue." Step onto the ledge.
Keep climbing.
Step onto the ledge.

After selecting all three right answers, you'll then be given the option to visit the Forgotten Grotto. Have your Sim travel to this location so you can continue working through the rest of the week four Nature's Calling event quests.
