How to book tickets for The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty

The great news is that the Lido in Pontypridd's Ynysangharad Park is reopening for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

It will re-open more than a year after it was ruined by floods caused by Storm Dennis.

Improvements to toilet and changing facilities have been made since it was closed back in February 2020, as well as the essential maintenance, replacement and cleaning work to get rid of the effects of the flood.

When can you visit?

The Lido, on which work was completed last month, will now be open on weekends and bank holidays only, with extended opening hours making the most of the lighter nights, however, these will be subject to reduced numbers of entrants due to Covid regulations.

Early morning swimming may also be available between Mondays and Fridays from 6.30am to 9.30am, with local swimming clubs also given the opportunity to make use of the facility during the evenings.

These arrangements are forecast to be in place for a period of three weeks, with a further review to then be undertaken to possibly allow extending the opening hours before hopefully being in a position to return to a full schedule in the summer.

How do you book?

You can book tickets from Monday, April 24. It's free for the under-16s and £2 for adults. You can also hire inflatables.

Take a look at the Lido's website for more.
