Just as a tree needs deep roots to flourish, so the forthcoming Charter for Trees, Woods and People can only succeed with strong foundations in communities. If you like the idea of firing up people in your neighbourhood, holding events to help connect them with local trees and contributing their stories to the charter, become a charter champion and raise a chorus of voices to protect our trees.
To help you get started, you’ll attend an orientation day consisting of talks, workshops and group activities. It will include an outing to an inspirational site, such as Edinburgh botanical gardens or a veteran tree tour of Clissold Park in London. The day will cover:
• What the charter campaign is about and the timeline leading up to its launch in November 2017
• What your role as a charter champion will be
• Training and inspiration in engaging and leading local communities
• Guidance in contributing to the charter itself
• Ideas, resources and skills
• Lunch and refreshments
