2022 marks 100 years of the BBC and as part of their 100th birthday celebrations, the Corporation is offering viewers the chance to star in their favourite shows. This includes as the voting announcer on Strictly Come Dancing.

The competition was exclusively announced on The One Show on Friday, October 21 and is called BBC 100: 15 Seconds of Fame. Welsh presenter Alex Jones called the competition a "very exciting opportunity" while comedian Phil Wang explained how to enter to viewers.

There are six big BBC shows you can apply to be on medical drama Casualty, The Archers, BBC flagship soap EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing, sci-fi drama Doctor Who and Gardeners' World. Examples of roles open for application include announcing 'vote open' on Strictly Come Dancing, ordering a drink on EastEnders and lying as a motionless patient on Casualty.

The BBC has said: "To say thank you to you, our audience, for being a part of 100 years of the BBC, we’re inviting big fans of some iconic BBC programmes to spend some time on set and have their 15 seconds of fame."

Also to celebrate 100 years of the BBC Strictly Come Dancing is holding a special centenary episode. The remaining couples will be dancing to well-known BBC show theme tunes and the show will open with a group number that sees the Strictly professionals and judges gatecrash some of the biggest BBC flagship shows.

A spokeswoman for the BBC said: "It is in tribute to one of the BBC’s most loved services. It promises to be an unforgettable night of celebration and dance." You can read what theme tunes the couples will be dancing to here.
