How to appeal a parking ticket with a free online tool

In light of the new parking rules designed to curb the unfair charges handed out by private firms, Rightly.co.uk has released a tool to help people appeal parking tickets for free.

Rightly.co.uk ’s new tool is designed to give you the ability to request the reason behind the decision to give you a ticket. This is because you’re entitled to all of the personal data any organisation has on you.

The information you’ll receive:

  • All of the information the ticket issuer has stored about you.

  • The reason for their decision to give you a ticket.

  • Their evidence, like CCTV footage or other documentation.

  • The likely strength of their case.

You can also send a request to your local council if the ticket was public.

The tool can be accessed here: https://www.rightly.co.uk/how-can-i-appeal-a-parking-ticket/

Once you have the evidence, time is of the essence. You can follow the appeal process that is usually on the parking ticket’s instructions.

Most will give you a 14-day window to pay your fine or appeal. If you choose to appeal, you should hear back in 28 days, so by this time, you will have the results of your data request.

This will give you a much stronger position to appeal your parking ticket.
