How things stand in the Championship playoff race for Bristol City, Derby County and Middlesbrough after Easter Monday drama

There are just a couple of games remaining in the Championship and there is still plenty to be decided at both ends of the table.

Norwich City missed the chance to seal promotion after being held by Stoke City, while Sheffield United defeated Hull City comfortably and look set for a top-two finish after Leeds United’s defeat to Brentford.

In the race for the playoffs, West Brom and Aston Villa have now seen their spots confirmed, while it was a perfect day for Derby County as they saw off QPR and were boosted by the defeats suffered by Middlesbrough and Bristol City.

Meanwhile, Rotherham United slipped closer towards League One football next season after defeat against Birmingham City but there is still some hope for them heading into the final two weekends.

Here’s everything that could be decided in the penultimate weekend.

Why Bristol City can take heart from disappointing Sheffield Wednesday defeat

Title race

Norwich City will seal the title if they beat Blackburn Rovers at home and if Sheffield United drop points against an Ipswich Town side that has already been relegated from the Championship.

Automatic promotion

Norwich City require just a single point to seal their spot in the Premier League next season and Sheffield United will join them if they win and Leeds United drop points against Aston Villa on Sunday. A draw would also be enough if Villa beat Leeds.

Playoffs

There is just one spot remaining in the playoffs and three sides will have their eyes on the prize, with Derby County holding the advantage as they sit sixth and still have a game in hand. If they beat Bristol City this weekend, the Robins’ playoff hopes would be ended.

However, the fight with Middlesbrough will go into the final week regardless of the results but if Derby win and the Teessiders lose to Reading, Frank Lampard’s side would require just a single point from their two remaining matches.

Relegation

Rotherham United’s relegation looks inevitable and their fate will be sealed at the weekend if they lose to West Brom and Millwall, who also have a game in hand, take points off Stoke City.
