How the Tottenham squad are planning Christian Eriksen's farewell with £17.5m transfer imminent

Christian Eriksen's Tottenham Hotspur departure should be confirmed very soon.

The 27-year-old has been long linked with an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and with less than six months on his contract with the club, he's set for a move to Inter Milan.

Arriving at the Milan airport on Monday morning, as Italian journalist Alessandro Rimi shared a video on Twitter of Eriksen fighting through a scrum of photographers and assorted members of the press.

Jose Mourinho on Christian Eriksen situation

The caption read: 'Here he is! Christian Eriksen just landed in Milano. And is going to be a new Inter player.'

All that remains is for the Denmark international to undergo his medical before signing a contract with the Serie A giants, thus ending his six-and-a-half year association with the Lilywhites.

With the £17.5m transfer close to completion, details of Eriksen's final moments at Spurs as well as how the squad are planning to say goodbye to the attacking midfielder have been revealed.

As reported by the Athletic, Eriiksen went to the Tottenham training ground to collect his belongings on Sunday before flying out to Milan to finalise the deal.

And with Spurs players on a day off, any goodbyes to his team-mates will have to be done over the phone.

Meanwhile, the report also states that the north London outfit are eyeing a move for PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn, while the club are open to offers for Kyle Walker-Peters, Victor Wanyama and Danny Rose before deadline day.

Eriksen was part of the Spurs squad which travelled to St Mary's at the weekend but wasn't included in the matchday squad and speaking after the 1-1 draw against Southampton, Jose Mourinho aimed a dig at Inter's timing of the deal.

"Tottenham is the last one to blame for this situation," he said.

"I just want to say that this situation shouldn't happen on 25 January.

"The only thing I can say is Eriksen, since I arrive, he is behaving in a very, very professional way, with me and the team.

"But to be on 25 January in a situation like this is not nice."
