How the Tottenham players responded after losing out to Liverpool in the Champions League final

It was a disappointing night for Spurs as their dream of winning the Champions League was ended by Liverpool in Madrid.

The Reds claimed the top trophy in European club football for the sixth time as they won 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano, thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and substitute Divock Origi.

Spurs were playing in the showpiece event for the first time after an incredible run in the competition, having knocked out the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax on their way to the all-English final.

But it wasn't to be for the Lilywhites, who now have to look to try and emulate their opponents by reaching the final and tasting success 12 months on from losing at the same stage.

And Tottenham's players have been speaking of their pride at the journey they have been on to reach the final as they have taken to social media today (Sunday) to reflect on the defeat in Madrid, and the season as a whole.

Indeed, Harry Winks, Toby Alderweireld, Harry Kane, Kyle Walker-Peters and Jan Vertonghen are among those to send messages for the fans following the defeat, with Kane making a vow to supporters after the loss to Liverpool.

Kieran Trippier and Fernando Llorente have also taken to social media to react to the defeat.

Here's what they have had to say.
