How the Six Nations matches are expected to finish this weekend

We could learn more about which teams are genuine Six Nations title contenders and who are pretenders as we head into the second round of fixtures this weekend.

If results from the opening round are anything to go by, it will be hard to predict how it will pan out after Scotland stunned England at Twickenham and Wales overcame a poor run of form in 2020 to beat Ireland in Cardiff.

This is how the bookmakers think the games will go this weekend:

England v Italy

Unsurprisingly, Eddie Jones’ side are strong favourites, with bookies expecting them to bounce back from the loss to Scotland with a 36-point win based on handicap odds.

They are 1/41 to come out on top, with Italy at a massive 69/1 to cause a shock.

Scotland v Wales

The hosts are odds-on favourites to follow up their opening day win over England at 18/35.

A Wales victory is 11/5 so Wayne Pivac’s side face a battle to make it two wins out of two.

It is expected to be close, though, with bookies offering a five-point handicap to Scotland.

A draw is 28/1.

Ireland v France

This is set to be the closest game of the weekend with France tipped to win by just three points.

That would put them on course to go one better than last year and a Grand Slam could even be on, while Ireland would be staring at two defeats from two.

Les Bleus are 13/19 to get the win, with Ireland 13/8 and a draw at 25/1.
