How the Royal Family did in their A-levels including Princes William and Harry and Kate Middleton

A-Level results will soon be announced as students wait to learn their fate.

While qualifications aren't the be-all and end-all, many teenagers will be hoping to secure a university place or apprenticeship through their grades. Many students will understandably be nervous, the Royals had the whole world watching and waiting to hear about their grades.

Some members of the Royal Family aced their exams, whilst others preferred less academic pursuits. Here's how each member of the Royal Family did in their A-Levels.

Prince William's A-Level results

Prince William started at the famous Eton College in 1995, staying there for most of his education. He picked up his A-Level results in 2000 - an A in Geography, a B in Art and a C in Biology.

Those grades earned him a place at St Andrews University in Scotland where he studied a History of Art degree. Like many young people, the Duke took a gap year first and spent time travelling to Botswana, Chile, Kenya and Tanzania.

In 2001 he moved to St Andrews, where he met his future wife Kate Middleton. He graduated with a 2:1.

Kate Middleton's A-Level results

Most couples like to compare their successes in education and Kate Middleton actually outperformed her husband at A-Level. She achieved 11 GCSEs at St. Andrew’s School in Pangbourne before moving to Marlborough College in Wiltshire.

The Duchess got As in Maths and Art and a B in English in her A-Levels. Like her husband, she took a gap year before university before graduating from St Andrews University with a 2:1 in History of Art.

Prince Harry's A-Level results

Prince Harry followed his brother to Eton College where he studied for his GCSEs and A-Levels but he wasn't quite as academic as his older brother. He got a B in Art and a D in Geography in his A-Levels.

But he did excel in other areas - he represented the school in rugby, cricket and polo, was a member of the Combined Cadet Force and was House Captain of Games. After finishing in 2003 the Duke also took a gap year, travelling to Australia, Africa and Argentina but he decided against the university.

Instead, he joined the Army and had a successful career, which inspired him to set up the Invictus Games.

Princess Beatrice's A-Level results

Princess Beatrice received an A in Drama and Bs in History and Film Studies. The first daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson went on to graduate from Goldsmith's with a 2:1 in History of Ideas.

Princess Eugenie's A-Level results

Princess Eugenie got two As in Art and English Literature and a B in History of Art. Beatrice's younger sister studied English Literature, History of Art and Politics at Newcastle and graduated at the end of her three-year course in 2012 with a 2:1.

Prince Charles's A-Level results

Prince Charles had a more difficult education as he was sent to the very strict Gordonstoun. He left with five O-levels (GCSEs) and two A-levels - a B in History and a C in French.

The eldest son of the Queen then studied at Cambridge University and graduated with a 2:2 in History.

Princess Diana's A-Level results

Princess Diana didn't do quite as well at school as the rest of the family, having failed her O-Levels twice. But she did excel at deportment (which is an element of etiquette), having attended finishing school in Switzerland.

Princess Anne's A-Level results

Princess Anne attended Benenden school in Kent where she gained six O-levels, and three A-levels in English, History and Politics.

Prince Edward's A-Level results

Prince Edward also went to Gordonstoun and got nine O-levels and three A-levels in English, History and Politics. He then went on to study at Cambridge University and gained a 2:2 degree in History.
