Rangers will have to come from behind if they are to progress in the Europa League after losing narrowly, by two goals to one, to Jagiellonia Bialystok.
A dream start had seen them tke the lead when Guilherme Montoia turned Tuur Rommens' cross into his own net. There was then a collapse when the visitors conceded two very poor goals.
They improved after the break but were unable to find an equaliser.
Here's how the Rangers players rated:
Ivor Pandur - 6
Hard to lay the blame on the goalkeeper for the equalising goal as the ball came through a ruck of bodies and also seemed to take a deflection off Fernandez. The Croatian was also unfortunate for the second, making a good save initially before being helpless on the rebound. Didn’t have a lot else to do as Bialystok often fired off target when they created an opening.
Ross McCrorie - 4
In from the start for this one in the absence of Ben Godfrey, and it wasn’t the best start for the right-back when he put the ball out for a throw despite Pandur shouting that he was coming out to deal with it, and also conceded a free-kick minutes in. Flat-footed to let his man get across him for the second goal. Improved as the game went on but those were big moments.
Dujon Sterling - 5
Sterling was moved into centre-back in the absence of Ben Godfrey and didn’t have a great evening. Was one of many who could’ve done better for the equaliser, and also for the Poles’ second. Less culpable than McCrorie and Fernandez but played hs part in the poor defending.

Emmanuel Fernandez - 4
Possibly the most to blame of a few for the equaliser, sticking out a lazy leg and getting a touch which carried the ball into the bottom corner. Then had an unfortunate slip as the home side worked the ball into the box to go ahead. There were a few other moments where he was too casual defensively, as he has often been accused of being, too.
Tuur Rommens - 6
Grabbed an early assist after exchanging passes with Diomande and flashing a low cross into the box, turned into his own net by Guilherme Montoia. Unfortunately, Rommens was booked soon after, which possibly curbed his influence for the rest of the game. Comfortably the best performer out of the back four.
Tochi Chukwuani - 4
Handed a start after not featuring at Tannadice but was barely involved in the game before being hooked, as one of three changes, after an underwhelming first 45 minutes.
Dan Neil - 4
Confirmed as the Rangers vice-captain by McInnes before the game and led the team out tonight in the absence of skipper Lawrence Shankland from the XI. However, his first night with the armband didn’t go according to plan as he was hauled off at half-time.
Mohamed Diomande - 6
Heavily involved in the early opener with smart play to link up with Rommens and release the full-back down the left. Often involved in some of the good stuff Rangers did manage to work. Had a half-chance with a header in the second half but would be harsh to criticise him for not doing better.
Daisuke Yokota - 4
Handed a start just a day after being announced as a new signing and showed flashes of ability and what he will bring. However, allowed the ball to be crossed from his side for Bialystok’s first goal and clearly didn’t do enough for the manager, as he was taken off at half-time.
Thelo Aasgaard - 5
Showed his quality at Dundee United but needlessly gave away possession in the lead-up to Szmyt giving his team the lead. Often involved with intent, even if most of it didn’t come off, including when he fired well over in what was probably the best chance of the second period.
Youssef Chermiti - 6
As he so often does, Chermiti showed both sides of his game in this one. Insecure in possession at times and clumsy at others. But always a threat, including when he worked hard to pickpocket a defender and aim a low drive towards goal. Possibly should have got on the end of Rommens’ cross before the own goal was scored anyway.
Substitutes
Nico Raskin - 6
On at the break to try and make a difference in the engine room and did that. A driving force as Rangers improved and involved in two of the chances they created, especially when he provided a brilliant pass from which fellow sub Findlay Curtis fired wide.
Cammy Devlin - 6
On alongside Raskin and also played his part in the midfield improvement with industrious play. Burst into the box and managed to keep the ball alive, only for Aasgaard to fire over.
Findlay Curtis - 6
Unlucky with the shot he had soon after coming on. Then showed good intent, almost setting up a chance 12 minutes from time after driving into the box. Also forced the goalkeeper into a save before then hitting the post in the dying minutes.
Vanja Dragojevic - 4
On for his Rangers debut in the last 15 minutes, which was not enough time to make an impact.
Lawrence Shankland - 3
Club captain was given the last six minutes in the hope he would show his killer instinct in front of goal.
