How the Nottingham Post and Nottinghamshire Live is responding to the coronavirus epidemic

Dear readers,

I write to you as the first editor of the Nottingham Post to oversee a 'virtual newsroom'.

As of Wednesday, March 18, 2020, all journalists, content editors, administration staff and page designers of the Post and its sister website Nottinghamshire Live will work from their own homes due to the coronavirus epidemic.

We'll be stationed in kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, as well as parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. It's certainly not a situation we've ever encountered before, and probably unprecedented in our 150-year history. We also don't know at the moment how long we will be working like this.

I want to use this article to let you know that we are going to do our utmost to continue to publish our newspaper every day and to bring you news on our website, exactly as we do now. We hope you will see no interruption in service.

You can continue to contact us on Twitter, Facebook, or via newsdesk@nottinghampost.com. Our journalists' contact details can be found here and we're available from 6am until 10pm every day of the week.

I think it's also important we recognise not everyone has the privilege of being able to work at home at this time - so thank you to those on the NHS frontline, the staff at our hospitals and in ambulances, to the emergency services, the carers, council workers and prison staff who are keeping our vital services going.

Thank you also to the people who are being good neighbours, friends and members of the community. We all need to look out for each other at the moment.

If you want us to publicise a group you're involved with which is helping vulnerable people, please fill in this form and we'll add it to a rolling list on our website.
