How the Man City squad reacted to CAS overturning Champions League ban

Pep Guardiola says his Manchester City squad are 'incredibly happy' to get the green light to compete in next season's Champions League competition.

City's two-year UEFA ban was overturned this week by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, who judged that the allegations of seriously breaching Financial Fair Play rules were 'not established or time barred.'

The verdict clears City to compete in the Champions League for next season after the Blues secured qualification last week.

And after describing the verdict as good news for football in an animated pre-match press conference, Guardiola offered an insight into how the players received the news as he spoke ahead of the clash with Bournemouth.

"The players are incredibly satisfied and happy as well, because they want to play in the Champions League," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"They like it, of course. We play to win the Premier League, we are not able because one opponent was so strong and we were not consistent like the years before. We secured second place, Champions League. We have two titles and are playing for two more.

"The players like to play football and once they play, they try to win, first for the competition, for the contenders, and they want to play good.
