How the Jalen Ramsey trade impacted Rams’ Super Bowl LIV odds

To open the season, the Los Angeles Rams had the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +750. After their 3-3 starts, their odds dropped all the way to +1800 at BetMGM, which is now tied for seventh-best.

Seeing their title chances dwindling, the Rams made a blockbuster move on Tuesday, acquiring Jalen Ramsey from the Jaguars after sending Marcus Peters to the Ravens. Surely, adding an All-Pro cornerback has to help their chances of winning it all, right?

According to Bovada, it did.

The Rams’ Super Bowl odds improved from +2500 to +2200, which isn’t a huge change but is still an improvement.

Ramsey is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and is truly capable of shutting down opposing No. 1 receivers. There may not be many elite wide receivers in the NFC West, but the Rams have a handful of them on their upcoming schedule.

Assuming everyone is healthy, they’ll face Julio Jones, A.J. Green, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Allen Robinson and Amari Cooper this season alone. Having a player like Ramsey can make a significant difference in those matchups.
