How the final Championship table is predicted to look with Leeds United heavily favoured, Cardiff City now fancied but Swansea fall away

The Championship campaign has continued with plenty of action this weekend, with results that impact battles at both ends of the table.

Leeds United and Brentford both picked up crucial wins against promotion-rivals West Brom and Fulham, while at the bottom there were huge wins for Charlton and Luton Town in the battle to avoid relegation.

With the majority of teams having seven games remaining, time is running out in the season and there is little room for slips - and the return of action has already shown us some surprise results.

That makes predictions extremely difficult to come up with but data analysts FiveThirtyEight have crunched the numbers to issue a predicted final table - which includes a 60% reduction to home-field advantage as matches are played behind closed doors.

At the top of the pile, Leeds are tipped to clinch the title and a return to the Premier League with a five-point advantage over West Brom, who take the second automatic promotion spot.

That leaves Brentford, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City in the play-offs, with it predicted that a gap will emerge in the fight for a top-six finish with Cardiff, fresh from their win over Preston, backed to finish five points clear.

Meanwhile, Luton Town and Barnsley are predicted to finish with 46 points and suffering relegation to League One - finishing five points from safety.

Above them though, the fight is fierce and Hull City are backed to be relegated and finishing one point behind Charlton - with Stoke City, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough also narrowly avoiding demotion.

ODDS

The return of Championship action has been thrilling and the fight at the top of the table is incredibly tight heading into the final month of the campaign.

Leeds United’s victory over Fulham and Brentford’s win over West Brom has shaken up the fight for automatic promotion once again, while the play-off picture has also shifted following Cardiff City’s win over Preston.

Swansea's surprise 1-0 home defeat by Luton, however, has seen their chances of promotion drift with the bookmakers.

There is still a lot left to fight for heading into the final month of the Championship season and, while fans are unable to attend, there is still plenty keeping close tabs on the situation.

Following the latest round of results, The Pools’ updated odds paint an interesting picture - especially for Leeds United, who are 1/5 to win the title and a staggering 1/100 to be playing in the Premier League next season.

West Brom and Brentford are both odds-on to secure promotion alongside the Whites, with Fulham 9/4 following their defeat at Elland Road on Saturday.

Beneath them, Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City are both given a decent price of sealing promotion and that leaves Derby, Preston, Blackburn, Bristol City, Millwall and Swansea adrift.
