How the final Championship table is expected to finish as Leicester City and Leeds Utd fancied but Cardiff City and Swansea City miss out

Cardiff City and Swansea City are tipped for mid-table finishes in the 2023/24 Championship campaign.

It comes after fixtures have been released for all Championship teams — you can see the Cardiff fixtures in full here and the Swansea ones in full here — and the teams now know their schedule for the next 12 months.

It will come as little surprise, however, that recently-relegated Premier League teams Leicester City and Leeds United are tipped to challenge for the Championship title this season.

Leicester are as short as 5/1 to win the league, while Leeds are narrowly behind them at 6/1. The other relegated team, Southampton, who will be managed by ex-Swans boss Russell Martin, of course, are also up there and have odds of 8/1.

The bookies reckon that Middlesbrough, Norwich City and Watford will take up the final three play-off spots, while Ipswich Town, who have just been promoted from League One, have odds of 18/1 to win the league.

As for the Welsh clubs, well, it is predicted to be tough seasons for both. Swansea, who we understand will be managed by Michael Duff, are 28/1 to win the league and are expected to finish 14th, while Cardiff, who had a shocker of a season last year, are down for a 17th-placed finish.

Plymouth Argyle, another team up from League One, are the ones tipped to pick up the wooden spoon, while Rotherham United and Neil Warnock's Huddersfield Town are also in the relegation mix, too.

QPR, Birmingham City and Preston North End are all hovering down there, too, according to the latest bookmakers' odds, anyway.
