How the Farke factor should resonate at Nottingham Forest, as Norwich's patience is rewarded with Premier League football

There is a parallel to be drawn between Norwich City’s promotion and their patience with Daniel Farke - and the situation at Nottingham Forest, says Jack Robinson.

This time last season Canaries fans were calling for Farke to be sacked, following a frustrating end to the campaign that saw them finish 14th in the Championship.

But while a run of three wins, eight draws and five defeats in the final months last year prompted a mood of frustration, Norwich bounced back in style to win promotion and the title, this time around.

Forest themselves missed out on the play-off places following a run of four defeats in April, with a flurry of three consecutive wins coming too late to restore their hopes of a top six finish.

But, when asked if the situation at the City Ground felt similar to the one at Carrow Road last season, defender Robinson felt there is a parallel to be drawn.

“Yes, of course there is. This is football - the more time you give to a manager, the better the results are going to be, over the long-term,” said Robinson.

“The gaffer has done more than a good job and hopefully that will carry on and we will continue to improve and do well next season.

“I think there is better on the horizon, when you look at next season.

“When you look at the squad we have here, we have had a season of playing together in the Championship now and, if we can have fewer injuries than we have done this season - which did hinder us a bit - we can be positive.”

Forest finished the season with a run of three consecutive wins - including a first away win since November, at QPR - to provide some degree of optimism.

Martin O'Neill has had 19 games in charge of the Reds and has spoken of how he views much of his first four months at the helm as being a learning curve, on his return to club football.

And Robinson believes there is cause to be positive, as Forest look ahead to the future with what he believes is a solid core of players on which to build, as O'Neill looks to bring in a few of his own signings this summer.

“All we can do is go into next season with our heads held high and have a right go at making the top six,” he said.

“It is not for me to say how much needs to be done in the summer, in terms of signings, that is up to the manager. That is his decision.

“But of course, it does feel as though there is a good base to build on here. If you look at the players in each position, it does feel as though we are solid in all areas of the pitch already.

“As I say, it is down to us to produce our best performances on a Saturday. Football is about winning, isn’t it? That’s all that matters.”
