How the current government shutdown compares to others

Data: Congressional Research Service; Chart: Axios Visuals

Here's how the partial government shutdown, which enters Day 14 today, compares to past government shutdowns and funding lapses. It still lags behind a few others, but if it drags on beyond Friday of next week, it will break the 21-day record set in 1995 under Bill Clinton.

Why it matters: With another meeting at the White House scheduled for today, there's no sign that the standoff between President Trump and congressional Democrats over border wall funding will end any time soon.
