How the City Ground is taking shape ahead of Nottingham Forest’s new Championship season

Less than three weeks have passed since Nottingham Forest finished their Championship season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over stricken club Bolton Wanderers and the City Ground is already preparing for another busy year of action.

Last term, Forest's famous home played host to 26 first team games in league and cup, along with a myriad of other matches including pre-season friendlies, Under-23 ties, the Game of Remembrance between the British Army and German Armed Forces, plus Forest Ladies' prestigious match against Jamaica.

Following that final day win over the relegated Trotters, ground staff at the City Ground ripped up the pristine playing surface, before giving it a well-earned rest.

It was then reseeded and just a few weeks on, brown has turned to green and the Reds’ excellent playing surface is starting to take shape, and in the process, providing a free meal ticket for West Bridgford’s pigeon community.

The pitch will be treated carefully in the coming weeks, as the Reds prepare for a pre-season outing at home before the season gets underway.

Forest’s first home game of the new campaign under Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane will be revealed when the fixtures are released on June 20.
