Chelsea are waking up as Champions of Europe this morning.
The Blues secured the UEFA Champions League title for the second time in nine years last night after beating Manchester City 1-0 in a pulsating contest at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto.
Attacking-midfielder Kai Havertz, signed from Bayer Leverkusen last September in a club-record deal, netted the only goal of the game shortly before half time, latching onto Mason Mount's exquisite through ball, knocking the ball past City shot-stopper Ederson and then into an empty net.
Although the scoreline suggested that it was a close run battle, the Blues were dominant from pretty much the first whistle, with Thomas Tuchel's side's high defensive standards limiting City to what they could create and conjure up.
But it was a magnificent Chelsea performance, and one that did not shirk under the pressure of the occasion.
Reviewing his side's performance following the full time whistle, a jubilant Tuchel said: "I am not sure I feel very confident right now to talk about single players. The effort was huge, there were some difficult and very dangerous moments with a fantastic attitude to defending.
"We had an early change with Andreas [Christensen] for Thiago Silva which did not make things easier but we were brave, even in moments when it was hard to escape the pressure, we needed to suffer, we were brave in the formation, constantly active and it was a relentless performance.
"Of course, Toni [Rudiger] and NG [N'Golo Kante] were fantastic but it was a solid, solid performance."
Before making his way to speak to the media after the full time whistle, Tuchel, of course, had celebrated lifting the Champions League aloft with his players and staff, as well as celebrating a historic night with the fans that had made the trip to Portugal.
Unsurprisingly, Chelsea's Champions League winning heroes have flooded their social media accounts with photographs and messages, as they set about celebrating a magnificent achievement. Here, football.london has taken a close look at what they have had to say.
With the season now over for the Blues, Tuchel will be looking to swiftly put plans in place ahead of the start of next season, with their next competitive game poised to be on August 11 against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup final.
The Premier League season begins just a few days later on the weekend of August 14.
