Chelsea put Saturday's FA Cup final heartbreak behind them by putting themselves on the brink of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League this season with a fully deserved 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Stamford Bridge last night.
After squandering no shortage of opportunities in the first half, the Blues, who face Aston Villa on the final day of the season at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon, discovered their shooting boots after the half time interval, taking the lead through Antonio Rudiger's close range finish.
The German centre-back, who was nothing short of outstanding all evening long, turned the ball home from a corner to hand the Blues the lead, before Jorginho doubled their advantage from the penalty spot.
Leicester substitute Kelechi Iheanacho did pull a goal back for Brendan Rodgers' side, ensuring the final 15 minutes or so would prove to be tense for the home side, but Chelsea held on to move back into third spot and put themselves on the cusp of securing a top-four finish.
Despite that, head coach Thomas Tuchel has insisted that the challenge is not over yet, although he was delighted with his side's performance, as they produced the goods on the fans' return to Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel, speaking in his post-match press conference, said: "It felt like a huge effort and a top performance. Don't get me wrong, it's a big step but it's only a step, it's not done yet.
"We have to get over the line on Sunday. It was a team effort full of intensity, full of hunger and ambition. We played many, many minutes with a lot of quality.
"It was in my opinion a well-deserved win but it's not the time for praise and celebration. It's not the time about philosophy and whether this is more than three points.
"There's another game to catch on Sunday we'll be prepared and aware to finish the job."
Although Tuchel, as expected, is taking a cautious approach to Chelsea's top-four goal being secured, the Blues' players, who performed a lap of appreciation following the full time whistle, most certainly celebrated what could prove to be a decisive three points.
Following the game, several members of the squad took to social media to react to the victory. Here, football.london has taken a close look at what they had to say.
With another game now ticked off of the Blues' hectic schedule, just two more matches remain before the 2020/21 campaign can be rubber-stamped into the history books.
Chelsea face Aston Villa on Sunday in their final Premier League outing of the campaign, before jetting out to Portugal less than a week later for the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.
Should Tuchel guide Chelsea to a top-four finish and win the Champions League, few can have any complaints at the impact he will have had in west London since his January arrival.
