How the Chelsea dressing room reacted after climbing into the top four with 2-0 win vs Newcastle

Chelsea extended their winning run in the Premier League to four matches with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.

First half goals from strikers Olivier Giroud, who stepped off the bench after just 20 minutes to replace the injured Tammy Abraham, and Timo Werner, sealed all three points for the Blues, lifting them above Liverpool and West Ham United and into the top-four in the process.

It was a comfortable victory for the Blues, who were dominant from the very first whistle in west London, with Newcastle posing little threat to the recalled Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Chelsea goal.

The victory has made it five wins in his first six games in charge for head coach Thomas Tuchel, sparking a real sense of optimism amongst the club's supporters that the Blues can finish in the Champions League places this season.

Whilst the Blues are now back into the Champions League positions, Tuchel is refusing to get too far ahead of himself, insisting Chelsea will take the situation game by game.

"Well, we will never stop pushing because like I said before, there is no other way than taking it step by step and game by game," said Tuchel.

"I can only tell everybody there is a long way to go, there are many many teams who are close and we have some tough games, a lot of big teams to play and points to win.

"Now that is why we will have a couple of days off to recover physically and mentally and then we prepare 100 percent for Southampton and the next challenge.

"We play in the toughest league in Europe and right now, the fixtures at the end of the season will count."

Whilst Tuchel, like most managers, is determined to remain grounded, his players have celebrated last night's win over the Magpies by taking to social media.

Here, football.london has taken a close look at how the Blues' players have reacted to last night's win Stamford Bridge.

After climbing back into the top four, Chelsea's players have every reason to feel confident. They have adapted to Tuchel's methods with ease and have looked comfortable in all six matches they have had under his stewardship.

Next up for the Blues is a trip to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday before facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next Tuesday evening.
