How the Championship is predicted to finish after wins for Leeds United, West Brom and Nottingham Forest

The Championship delights in its inconsistencies but on Saturday, most of the results in the division went to form with all of the top six winning, bar Swansea City who were held 2-2 by Sheffield Wednesday.

As a result there hasn't been a great shift in the make-up of the standings although Nottingham Forest's narrow 1-0 win over Derby in the lunchtime kick-off further cemented their credentials and Brentford continued their upsurge with a 3-0 win at Wigan.

Such were the results, Bristol City didn't fall as far as they could have but the Robins are now placed outside of the top six with Sunday's Severnside Derby against Cardiff providing them with a chance to return into the elite.

Forecasting exactly what is going to happen in the division is never an exact science but there is a distinction developing between the strongest sides in the division - West Brom and Leeds - the promotion contenders and then those likely to be battling relegation.

Arguably the most accurate model is devisied by renowned US statistician Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight which is based on how teams are performing in defence and attack, combined with their current form and remaining fixtures.

Using his metric for probability of promotion, here is how FiveThirtyEight believes the Championship will pan out ...
