How the Aussies fared on day 11 in Pyeongchang

It was a quiet day for the Australian contingent in Pyeongchang, with only two athletes competing and neither advancing beyond the first stage.

The evening belonged to our speed skaters, with both Andy Jung and Deann Lockett in action in the 500m short track and 1,000m short track respectively.

But results did not go Australia's way, with Jung crashing out while rounding a corner and Lockett slipping from an early lead into third place, before later earning a penalty for impeding an opponent.

Jung was frustrated but philosophical after the race.

"My blade collided with another guy and I couldn't stay up. I was feeling strong and I really went for it," he said.

"I'm really disappointed but I know I couldn't have given it much more."

Lockett said she did not intentionally impede any of her fellow skaters, but conceded she had fallen short regardless of the judges' call.

"I couldn't feel the Chinese skater coming up on the inside, I didn't mean to block her," Lockett said.

"I'm disappointed but that's the sport. Sometimes it's your night and sometimes it's not — today it definitely wasn't my night, but I gave it my best.

"That was a really tough heat, to have the Chinese and the Koreans in my first race was hard, but that's the way it goes."
