How the Arsenal dressing room reacted after beating Tottenham in the North London derby

Arsenal got the better of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the first time since December 2018 on Sunday afternoon, winning 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

After falling behind to substitute Erik Lamela's breathtaking opener for the visitors, Arsenal responded just a minute before the half time interval when Martin Odegaard connected with Kieran Tierney's cross and saw his effort deflect past Hugo Lloris and into the back of the net.

The Gunners then completed the turnaround on 64 minutes when Spurs centre-back Davinson Sanchez was found guilty of bringing Alexandre Lacazette down inside the penalty area, meaning the Frenchman was handed the opportunity to step up and dispatch the ball past Lloris, firing Mikel Arteta's side in front.

However, Lacazette's tenth Premier League goal of the campaign was not the final talking point of the contest, as Lamela was sent off for a second bookable offence after catching Gunners left-back Tierney in the face with his arm.

Spurs did come close to snatching a point when Harry Kane's free-kick struck the woodwork, but Arteta's men held on to record a massive victory.

On his side's performance, the Gunners boss said: 'I'm extremely happy and proud about the way the boys played today and obviously really happy because we know what it means to our club and our fans.

"It’s a shame that they weren’t here today and I hope that they will be happy from home."

On whether the Gunners can use the win over Jose Mourinho's side in the coming weeks to their advantage and gather some momentum, Arteta added: "Hopefully, it will increase the level of confidence of the team and the belief that we can play really well against any opponent, we can beat big teams as well and just maintain everybody together with a big belief.

"We know we have to put four or five wins together in a row to give ourselves any chance of looking up in the table, but we are ready for a fight."

As expected, Arsenal's stars certainly enjoyed the win over Spurs and they soon took to social media to react to a memorable derby day victory. Here, football.london has taken a close look at what some of them have had to say on Instagram...

Next up for Arsenal is the second-leg of their UEFA Europa League tussle with Olympiacos on Thursday before travelling to the London Stadium to face West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
