How teammates celebrated Anshul Kamboj's blockbuster Rs 3.4 crore IPL Auction bid by CSK

Haryana all-rounder Anshul Kamboj earned himself a big pay check during the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on Monday, November 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spent Rs 3.40 crore for his services. The five-time champions outbid Mumbai Indians to bring the seam bowler into their fold for IPL 2025, and beyond.

Kamboj entered the IPL auction at a base price of Rs 30 lakh as Delhi Capitals (DC) began the bidding process. However, CSK and MI showed interest in bringing the player into their respective squads by raising their paddles with Chennai winning the bidding war at Rs 3.40 crore.

In a video shared by CSK, Haryana players could be seen huddled in the team bus as they witnessed the bidding process. They then congratulated and celebrated with Kamboj.

Kamboj has recently garnered attention by becoming only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to take all 10 wickets in a single innings. He achieved this remarkable feat in Haryana's fifth-round match against Kerala in Rohtak, finishing with impressive figures of 10 for 49 in 30.1 overs.

Thanks to his standout performance, Kerala were dismissed for 291 runs. At just 23 years old, Kamboj now joins Premangshu Chatterjee (10/20) and Pradeep Sunderam (10/78) as the only players to achieve this milestone in the prestigious tournament.

Originally from Karna, Haryana, and born on December 6, 2000, Kamboj is a seam all-rounder with 57 first-class wickets at an average of 24.47 and an economy rate of 3.12, including two five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul. He has also claimed 97 wickets across List A, first-class, and T20 formats.

Recently, he represented India A in the Emerging Asia Cup, where he took four wickets in three matches, highlighted by a player-of-the-match performance of 3 for 33 against Pakistan Shaheens.

Earlier this year, Kamboj was the leading wicket-taker in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25, claiming 16 wickets in five innings with an average of 17.12, including best figures of 8 for 69 against India B.

He also made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians, taking two wickets in three games, and played a crucial role in Haryana's Vijay Hazare Trophy victory in the 2023-24 season, where he took 17 wickets in 10 matches.
